Auditory-language connectivity and implications in neurosurgical approaches

Presenter: Carlos Velásquez (Santander, Spain)

Biography: Carlos Velásquez is a consultant neurosurgeon at the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital (HUMV) in Santander, Spain. Upon his Neurosurgery Residency at HUMV he completed a clinical fellowship in Neuro-oncology and Skull Base Surgery at Toronto Western Hospital / University of Toronto. He also underwent further training in neuro-oncology at the McFeeters-Hamilton Center for Neuro-Oncology Research at the Princess Margaret Cancer Center under Dr. Gelareh Zadeh. He has a particular interest in the application of functional neuroanatomy in surgical neuro-oncology and he is a current member of the neuroanatomy research group lead by Dr. Juan Martino at the University of Cantabria and IDIVAL, focused on the study of functional subcortical anatomy, brain connectivity, and intraoperative navigated-tractography.
